Learning Space Foundation
Learning Space Foundation provides supplementary education for tribal children of the Bhiwandi and Wada Talukas of Thane district. Hundreds of tribal children benefit from their programmes like English speaking, arts, music, Warli painting etc.
Founded by Nitin Orayan, author of’ Integrate the Self’, a book on Personal Development, the foundation aims to impart various skills to the under privileged children of the region.

Ekvira Aii Pratishthan
Is an NGO located in Bhandup village working for conservation of mangroves in the eastern suburbs of Mumbai. Their efforts and support to the State Forest Department has resulted in over 1000 ha of mangroves being saved from destruction. Since the village comprises members of the fishing communities their support is crucial for the cause of mangrove conservation. The NGO also undertakes social upliftment programmes for the underprivileged and the weaker sections of the society in the region.

New Link Road Residents’ Forum
This NGO comprises eminent citizens from the Dahisar area of Mumbai. They are a perfect example of how citizens can come together and make a difference. Their die hard spirit and resilience has resulted in 400 ha of prime mangrove forests being saved from destruction at the hands of the powerful builder lobby. They are also active in tackling issues like food and milk adulteration. They also fight encroachment in mangrove areas.

The Awaaz Foundation is an NGO working on the prevention of mining in ecologically sensitive areas, noise and marine pollution, and many more environmental issues. They have also succeeded in clearing encroachments on a public village road done by industrialists, and implementing educational programmes for schools and colleges, not to mention appealing a PIL in the Supreme Court against Coastal Regulation Zone violations.
